About

Hi, I’m Beth πŸ‘‹

For the past 23 years, I’ve built a career on creating and shaping stories that impact, engage and inspire.

I’ve worked across industries and genres as both a writer and an editor. From corporate communications to magazine and fiction writing to editing fantasy, romance, thrillers, memoirs and children’s books (including my own), I’m proud to have worked with people from all walks of life to craft exceptional stories.

It’s my delight and pleasure to use my hard-earned expertise and natural aptitude for teaching to help indie authors produce their best work.

My credentials and experience

While completing my Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing, I scored my first job in publishing as an assistant and junior editor at Roussan Publishers, a children’s book publisher in my hometown of Montreal, Quebec.

After university, I took on freelance fiction editing clients and wrote articles for AskMen.com and health and fitness blogs.

I later worked as the editor of medical magazine Perspectives in Cardiology. The next year, I hopped the pond to London, England and sub-edited for The Law Society’s Gazette.

While taking a career break back in Canada to raise my first child, I self-published my first book, Messy Face. This little book is beloved by babies around the world, and I love receiving heartwarming photos from parents of their little ones turning the pages.

After a move to New Zealand, I began working as an editor online, then later joined the proofreading team at iconic Kiwi retailer The Warehouse. During my time with The Warehouse, I launched my second book, middle grade fiction novel Emilia and the Adventure Next Door. Eventually, I shifted into internal communications at The Warehouse Group, then went on to other internal communications roles in the engineering and agriculture sectors.

The birth of my second child led me to start my own freelancing business, bringing together my skills and experience in writing, editing and internal communications. In 2022, I published my third book, Stranger in the Crowd (with co-author J.L. Moore), and I’ve had the pleasure working with a variety of clients in an editing capacity, from big-name corporates to indie authors around the world.

Now, by focusing on editing and book coaching, I get to do more of what I love most: working with dedicated, passionate authors to bring out the best in their writing.
